Make your Akshaya Tritiya Meaningful not by what you buy, but by what you give.

What is Akshaya Tritiya?

Akshaya Tritiya, also known as Akha Teej, is one of the most sacred and spiritually uplifting festivals in India. Celebrated on the third day (Tritiya) of the bright half (Shukla Paksha) of the Vaishakha month, this day holds immense significance in Hindu and Jain traditions.

The word “Akshaya” means never diminishing or eternal. It symbolizes everlasting prosperity, abundance, and good fortune. It is believed that any good deed or charity performed on this day multiplies manifold and brings lasting blessings to both the giver and receiver.

Mythological Significance

Akshaya Tritiya is deeply rooted in mythology:

Lord Vishnu is worshipped on this day in his Parashurama avatar—it marks the birth of the sixth incarnation of Vishnu.

Ved Vyas and Lord Ganesha began writing the epic Mahabharata on this auspicious day.

According to legend, Draupadi’s Akshaya Patra provided endless food to the Pandavas during their exile, blessing them with food that never ran out—highlighting the power of divine grace.

The holy river Ganga is also believed to have descended to Earth on Akshaya Tritiya, purifying humanity.

Why is Charity Important on Akshaya Tritiya?

This is not just a day of wealth and gold—it's more about spiritual wealth and inner abundance. That’s why acts of daan (donation) and seva (selfless service) are highly encouraged on this day.

Among all donations, Annadaan (donation of food) is considered the most sacred and impactful. Scriptures say:

"Anna Daanam Param Daanam"

(Food donation is the greatest of all donations)
